Today's post is about how to achieve that 'EYEBROWS ON FLEEK'/ that strong #browgame. If you haven't seen the 'eyebrows on fleek' vine i'll link it below;
Who would have thought when we were little that one day eyebrows would mean so much to us?!
Eyebrows are most definitely an important feature of the face; they frame the eyes
and add definition. Eyebrows aid in conveying expressions so its important
that when adjusting or filling them in that you follow the golden ratio;
Golden Ratio:
1. Start of the eyebrow
2. Arch (high point) of the eyebrow
3.End (tail) of the eyebrow
To create the ideal brow shape use the handle end of your brush and place
the handle on top of your nostril in a straight line against your eyebrow
running up to your forehead, this is where your brows should start. Tilt you
brush diagonally from your nostril across your pupil and this will tell you
where the arch, or high point of the eyebrow should be. Lastly, by placing your
brush from your nostril, across the outer corner of your eye, this will
indicate ideally where your eyebrow should end.
Eyebrow Shapes:
People have a variety of different eyebrow shapes including;
· Rounded

‘S’ Shaped
·
Soft Angled
·
Hard Angled
·
Flat
Of course there are a variety of other brow shapes which I'll list below;

Filling in your eyebrows:
When
applying any brow products the current trend is to leave the front area of the
brow lighter, you can achieve this by using less product in this area and only
defining the bottom of the brow and blending the product upwards using a spooly.
You should concentrate the bulk of your product towards the high
point of the brow and through the tail as on the majority of people this is
where the hair tends to be more sparse.
By flicking the brush upwards in small short strokes you will be
creating the appearance of hair like lines which will give your brows a more
natural look.
If you already have full thick brows concentrate on only filling in
areas that need to be.
Once you have filled in your brows and are happy with the shape a
common technique is to conceal around the lower edge and tail of the brow to give
it a more crisp and clean finish, by using a lighter concealer you will also be
adding a highlighted effect.
Eyebrow Products:
There are many different methods to filling in eyebrows;
Eyebrow gel:
Many make up houses develop coloured eyebrow gels that have a creamy consistency and are often waterproof and smudge proof. Brow gels are ideal for designing and sculpting precise and sharp brows. A product of this particular consistency is best applied using a small synthetic angle brush such as M.A.C 263, or any similar dupes you may find. Synthetic brushes work best for cream products. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade is a very popular eye brow gel on the market at the moment and comes in a range of colours from blonde to ebony.
Eyebrow pencil:
Brow pencils are used to fill in and define the eyebrows. They
contain special ingredients that apply color where it is needed in a precise
and controlled manner. Brow pencils don’t give a look as defined as brow gel
does but can still add subtle definition to your brows. Pencils come in various
forms from retractable with spoolies on the end to standard pencils that
require sharpening. When deciding on an eyebrow pencil it is important to
choose a product that glides on softly and easily and can be blended fairly
effortlessly. M.A.C, Napoleon Perdis and Anastasia Beverley Hills are all
highly commended for their brow pencils bendability and power to give
definition.
Eyebrow powder:
Brow powder is used to give natural and subtle definition to the
brows. Brow powder is a favorable choice amongst make up artists for mature
clients as the hairs can generally be so sparse that any other product, i.e.
pencil or gel, will be too heavy or defined for a mature look. Some companies
make specific brow powders however, eyeshadows an also be used if you have a
variety of colours handy in your kit. Brow powder is best applied using a small
angled brush either synthetic or sable hair depending on preference.
Extra Tools
Eyebrow wax:
Brow wax is a wax product that can be used either before or after brow
shaping and sculpting to set any unmanageable hairs in place. It can be applied
using a synthetic small angled brush or some companies sell brow wax pencils
that can be sharpened and applied directly on the brow in a stroking motion.
Eyebrow clear gel:
Eyebrow gel is as the name suggests basically gel for your eyebrows.
It generally comes in packaging similar to mascara but its clear, with a
mascara wand on the end. Brow gel is combed through the brows after they have
been sculpted and defined and is used to tame unruly, coarse, long brow hairs
that refuse to stay in place.
Eyebrow stencils:
Eyebrow
stencils are patterns that people use to draw a specific pre designed shapes
during eyebrow shaping. Generally made from flexible, translucent plastic these
stencils are reusable and are placed on top of the brows and the design you
want is filled in using brow pencil, powder, or gel. Brow stencils assist
people who find it difficult to create perfectly symmetrical brows, however it
is important to choose the right design for your face shape.So if you didn't know... well now you know!
